Managed a few hours at the bench yesterday and so begins a new project. I'm building the 1/48 Airfix Defiant and have bought a few extra bits to hopefully spice things up. A basic Eduard cockpit set, RAF Air Sea Rescue decal set, some quick boost exhausts and some new guns for the turret. The kit is a great fit so far and plenty of detail even before adding the extras. Going to try and push on with this over the weekend but today I'm off out so before I go this is what we achieved yesterday. Cockpit assembly started and base colours down ready for some weathering.

Been making some progress during my few days off, hope to get back to the bench today and possibly some primer action...

I'm sure I masked that turret before spraying... Bit late now!

Ah Chris, you'll be proud, well, half proud.

Managed a bit more on the Defiant yesterday and pretty much have her in primer. I also made a start on the greebles, tyres done and the spinner assembled and painted. Very much looking forward to painting this one and then we'll have a go at making those dingy pods.

re: that turret, no I didn't really think you'd be that careless. On the other hand I did wonder why the turret would be retained on an air-sea rescue aircraft, unless it was too much trouble to remove. Love to see it when it's finished and I have thought of a new competition category which will suit this model.
so if that's not an incentive......

Sorry, I've been rather busy so should really bring you up to date. The Daffy is just about done except for the dingy pods which I'm still working on getting some materials. Used the new MRP Paints on this project and have to say I'm very impressed with the results, they give a lovely finish. So, bit of worm action and some bleaching...

Next up I masked out the walk way as the decal that comes with the kit is a bit naff...

Then I moved onto some decal action...

Landing gear on and a bit of unmasking to see how we're getting on. This is how she stands at the minute, still a few bits to fit and unmask but fairly happy. Next comes those dingy pods which I think will set this model off excellently, looking forward to getting involved with that.

Dingy? They come pre-weathered??

I'm 3/4 proud, Martin.Still worried about those wingtip lights, though.
